Cricket
Well done to all our Cricket players this year. It was great to have so many people out at practice and playing in a number of matches and tournaments.
We had 2 x U15 teams playing in the Holywood Cricket Club tournament and they finished 3rd and 5th overall. We also had 2 x U13 teams playing in their respective Holywood CC tournament, finishing 4th and 5th overall.
The NCU (Northern Cricket Union) Super 8s tournament took place on 13th June for Year 9 and Friday 17th June for Year 8. We entered 1 x Form 2 team and 2 x Form 1 teams, all the girls played very well and learnt lots about the sport in the process. Special mention to the Form 1 ‘A’ team who were the overall winners at this tournament beating Wallace in the semi-final and Sullivan in the final.
Strathearn also fielded a 1st XI team made up of girls from Forms 3 – L6 against Sullivan on Saturday morning which is the first time in over 20 years that we have had a 1st XI cricket team so we are delighted to have been able to do this and to win convincingly!! We hope that we can build on the success of this year’s cricket in the years to come. This would not have been possible without the help of our local cricket clubs and their coaches from CIYMS, NICS and Holywood CC.
