Strathearn has had a very successful hockey season with many teams reaching semi-finals / finals in their competitions. The 1st XI reached the semi final of the Super League back in November and the 4th XI just missed the final of the 4th XI Cup losing narrowly to Ballymena Academy in the semi-final.
But we had 3 teams which played their way to the Ulster Schools' Finals held at Stormont on the 9th and 10th March. The 2nd XI went all the way to penalty runs in the final of the McDowell Shield and were unlucky to lose out to Methodist College. While the U14A XI put up a good fight in the final of the Junior Cup to finish runners-up to a strong Killicomaine JHS.
Our 3rd XI went one step further and brought home the Gibson Cup after a great display of hockey defeating Ballyclare HS 3 - 1 in the final. A big thank you to all our supporters at these finals but also throughout the year, your encouragment from the sidelines was very much appreciated.
The end of the season came to an abrupt end but our U12s and U13s had some very competitive matches during the year and as always our participation levels have been super.
All in all a great season of hockey, well done to all involved!
