Well done to all the girls who competed at the Irish Open Swimming Championships a few weeks ago.
Special congratulations to Mia Davison who won the Junior 100 m Breaststroke Final and reached the final of the 50m Butterfly and Breaststroke.
Amelia Kane however went a step further and was crowned Irish Senior 1500m Freestyle Champion along with silver medals in the Senior 400 IM & 200m Freestyle and bronze medals in the 200m Backstroke & 200m Butterfly. These are phenomenal results for a 16 year old and her times rubber stamped her selection to compete on the Irish team at the European Junior Championships in Kazan, Russia at the end of June and also the World Junior Championships in Budapest, Hungary at the end of August. Amelia has been working very hard to get these times and her success throughout the year has also led to her winning a number of awards. Most recently she won the Junior Female category at the Belfast Sports Awards night and the U15 Award at the Ards and North Down Sports Awards.
Well done to Amelia, whose selection is well deserved and we wish her good luck as she prepares for these international competitions as well as sitting her GCSEs.
