Strathearn School

Well done to all our teams who competed at the Co Down Cross Country Championships last Wednesday 30th January.  The event took place at the new venue of Billy Neill Centre of Excellence which was a very demanding course on a crisp sunny January day.

Our Mini team took to the course first and did extremely well to finish 1st overall, the Minors had a good run and just missed out on the medals in 4th place.  Our Junior girls were trying to complete a hattrick of titles and ran brilliantly having 5 runners home in the first 8 but unfortunately Down HS had the other 3 places and had a lower team score so pipped us for gold on this occasion.  The Intermediates also ran very well and were just behind a strong Banbridge Academy team coming home with silver medals.  Our Seniors were our last team out but they did not dissappoint coming home in first place and the Co Down title for the 3rd successive year.

The Mini, Junior, Inter and Senior teams have qualified for the Ulster Schools' Championships next Wednesday 13th February at Mallusk Playing Fields.  Lucy Wills from the Minor team has also qualified as an individual having finished 10th in her race.  We wish the girls all the best!
