Strathearn celebrated the achievements of those girls whose involvement in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme this year culminated in the presentation of 142 awards in 2018. Pupils who earned their Bronze and Silver Awards were presented with their badges and certificates by Joanna Clarke, the Youth Officer for Outdoor Learning in the Education Authority Northern Ireland. The pupils’ hard work represents more than 9,500 hours of time spent volunteering, learning skills, pursuing physical activities and undertaking expeditions. 68 girls achieved their Bronze Award, 56 girls earned their Silver Award and 18 pupils and former pupils gained the Gold Award. The audience assembled in Manning Hall enjoyed watching some of the pupils’ creative presentations, and Mrs Connery warmly congratulated the pupils who received their Awards.
