Scholastic Book Fair Visits Strathearn

Scholastic Book Fair Visits Strathearn

Last week, the Library was turned into a book shop as the Scholastic Book Fair made its annual appearance at Strathearn. Members of the Library Committee and Library Team helped to organise the week, running the cash desk, helping pupils to find books and organising a reservation system.

Students were able to browse the books, which included a non-fiction works as well as novels, and purchase items, with a proportion of the sales being given back to the school in commission. The Library will be able to buy new books thanks to Scholastic and pupils’ and parents’ enthusiastic support. The Library ran a number of competitions, including a Book Bunting design challenge, a creative writing task which saw pupils introduce a new character and Uncover the Cover, which asked pupils to work out what books had been obscured. Congratulations to Mia Bleakley, Zara Cheung and Alice Browne who won prizes for their Book Bunting. Catherine Friend won the Uncover the Cover competition and Ava Inman’s creative writing took the prize for the Introducing competition.

Thanks to all those pupils and staff who supported this year’s Book Fair.

Shown are some of the entries into the Book Bunting competition.
