Peter McCartney of Causeway Asset Management visited Strathearn’s Mock Trial Team last week. Mr McCartney presented the school with a cheque on behalf of the partners of Causeway Asset Management and gave the pupils some advice for when they take to the courtroom in Nottingham this month. Fifteen pupils from second and third form will be travelling to the National Final of the Magistrates’ Court Mock Trial competition, run by the Citizenship Foundation. They will run two cases against opposing teams from schools in England and Wales and the girls are keen to bring the national trophy home for Strathearn and Northern Ireland. Participation in this prestigious competition is a great opportunity for pupils to learn more about the law, work together in a team and develop their public speaking and skills of persuasion. Good luck to the girls as they embark on their last few practices before the National Final on 17 June.
