The U.K. School Games are an annual event attracting 1600 of the top young athletes across 12 sports, many go on to represent their countries at Commonwealth and Olympic Games. This year the event was held at Loughborough University from the 1-4 September. I was honoured to represent Ireland in the swimming team where I competed in the 100m butterfly & 200m butterfly finishing 8th in both. Despite no podium results I thoroughly enjoyed this lifetime experience.
There were 4 other girls from Strathearn competing at the games, Kezia Beattie was 5th in the Foil Fencing competition, Olivia Nelson was 7th in 3000m, Amelia Kane was 6th in the 400m IM and 8th swimming as part of the Medley relay team and Katie Armstrong competed in cycling. Well done to everyone on being selected and hope they enjoyed the experience as much as I did.
