This year Strathearn Chamber Choir and Miskelly Chorale combined with Ballyholme Primary School Choir to raise money for Leukaemia and Lymphoma NI. Our concert was held in Hamilton Road Presbyterian Church, Bangor. Our soloist for the concert was Susanna Griffin, a violinist from Strathearn’s Upper Sixth, who has gained a place to study at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. Susanna played three impressive pieces: Allegro and Praeludium by Kreisler, Tico-Tico Bird in the Cornmeal by Abreu and Appassionato by Suk. Ballyholme Primary School delighted the audience with their beautiful choral sound and impressive part-singing. The Miskelly Chorale sang a number of well-known and loved pieces with great energy and enthusiasm. Strathearn Chamber Choir sang six pieces including two in Irish and Spanish. The Recorder Consort from Strathearn and Ballyholme Primary joined together to perform the upbeat and lively Beguine by Bonsor and La Volta by Praetorious. We were delighted to have such a supportive audience of 400 people for this concert. Mr Buchanan spoke about the charity and the wonderful work and research that they are doing to find a cure for the disease. The concert raised £2670.25. Well done to everyone involved who helped to make the night a real success!
