Congratulations to the Chamber Choir winning through to the runners-up position in the BBC ONE ‘Songs of Praise’ Senior School Choir of the Year Competition 2015 on Sunday 17 April. This was the first time the School had ever entered this competition and, like last year with the RTE School Choir of the Year, the made it all the way through to the final.
Thank you to all who have posted up congratulations or sent in expressions of praise – we have been delighted with the enjoyment all have received from the singing of the Choir.
The School Principal, Mr David Manning, commented; “The success of the Chamber Choir in first getting through to the semi-final and then to come away in the runners-up position, of such a prestigious national competition, has thrilled our entire school community. We are very proud of the extremely high standard of music at all levels in Strathearn and of the enjoyment it brings to so many people. This recognition beyond the school is a fantastic achievement for the pupils and also their teachers, Ms Kimber the Head of Music and the conductor Mrs McIvor. They have all worked extremely hard to achieve this standard and we are delighted for them.”
Well done Chamber Choir! And you can watch them sing ‘Joshua fit the Battle of Jericho’ by following this link or see behind the scenes in the galleries.
