Students in third form were treated to a session with award-winning author Jan Carson today. Jan discussed her writing journey, which took her from Northern Ireland to the United States and back again. She read from her forthcoming work Postcard Stories. Pupils asked questions about finding inspiration for writing, what to do if you’re ever stuck for a good beginning and the benefits of studying English literature. The third years got the chance to wield their own pens, and drafted some Postcard Stories of their own. A few volunteers joined Jan on stage to share their tales with the group. All of the pupils left with postcards to send back to Strathearn. Our thanks to Jan for giving us a thoroughly enjoyable morning.
