Course Content
At GCSE girls follow either the CCEA short course or full course.
Both short course and full course classes study the CCEA modules ‘An Introduction to Christian Ethics’. This includes study of:
- Christian teaching on sexual relationships, marriage and divorce
- Christian teaching on abortion, euthanasia and capital punishment
- Christian teaching on bioethics
- Christian teaching on contemporary issues with a focus on poverty and prejudice
- Christian teaching on modern warfare with a focus on nuclear war and pacifism
Girls studying full course RS at GCSE study a further module, ‘An Introduction to Philosophy of Religion’. This includes study of:
- The arguments for and against the existence of God
- The nature of God
- The origins and problems of evil and suffering
- How religious believers experience God
- Religious teaching about life after death
