Through our PE classes and afterschool programme many girls have been introduced to cricket this term. We have established links with Civil Service CC, CIYMS CC and Holywood CC and really appreciate their assistance with coaching and developing the game. Our U13 team competed at the Super 8s Cricket Tournament in Friends School Lisburn on Tuesday 12th June. Here they performed exceptionally well and progressed out of the group stages to meet Methody in the semi-final and won and met Wallace HS in the final where they narrowly lost. This was a great achievement to finish runners up against more experienced players and teams and bodes well for the future.
On Friday 15th June 5 Strathearn cricket teams competed at Holywood CC tournament against Sullivan and Rockport. With nearly 50 girls involved from Strathearn it was a great day with them getting lots of match play and lots of fun. Again a super way to introduce girls to the sport and we hope that they will continue to be involved over the summer and next year. Thanks to Holywood CC for organising this tournament.
